About therapy

Barbara Church

Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Supervisor of Counselling

How it works:

We initially meet for an assessment, which gives you the opportunity to ask questions and to tell your story, and us the opportunity to then explore together the options for meeting again in the future if you would like to do that.

If we agree to further meetings, then it generally works that these are weekly at the beginning but this could be reviewed and adjusted to fortnightly or monthly if we come to a decision that this is the best way forward.

Choosing counselling is not always an obvious or easy option, and it can take a lot of courage to take the first step in making an enquiry, and then to feel trust when talking to someone who is new to you.  My approach when working with those who make contact is to offer a non-judgemental, safe and accepting space to explore together at your own pace the topics identified during assessment, and to be part of the process of facilitating deeper understanding about any issues identified alongside ongoing growth and development of self reflection and resilience.

Meetings usually are for 1-hour, and some people choose to meet for 6-8 meetings with others coming for a year or more.

If you feel ready to make contact, please email:  barbara@resilientliving.org.uk or call:  07487 245095 and leave your name, a return telephone number and a short message.  I will aim to respond to messages within 24-hours.
